Rare WW2 British No. 4 Mk. 1 Rifle by Savage-Stevens

Serial #2C0999, .303 British, 25" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an early production, "US PROPERTY"-marked, 1942-dated rifle, made to Mk. 1 specs. The metal retains 90-92% of the original blue, with some mild fading at the muzzle, as well as along the high edges and projections. Additionally, some of the components retain their black Suncorite finish which has flaked to gray on a few spots. The matching bolt has some further fading on the handle, with streaks of blue along the body, and is fitted with a late type grooved cocking-piece. A Mk. 1 rear sight is fitted as well. The walnut buttstock, forend, and handguards are in fine shape with some minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the reapplied military oil finish. Armory repairs are also present on the rear handguard. All of the markings are still visible, although some are a bit faint. A single non-matching magazine is also included, and there are small, unobtrusive import stamps at the muzzle. This is a rare, very early Savage-Stevens No. 4, and is in fine-excellent condition overall. FFL or C&R
